There are two ways to edit the coding on a transaction in Xero:

1) If you entered it directly from the bank reconciliation, as a Spend or Receive money transaction, follow these steps:

  1. From the Dashboard, look for the bank account you used to enter the transaction. Click the Manage menu to the right of the account name, then click Account Transactions under where it says Find.
  2. Search for the transaction you want to edit.
  3. Click the Description to open the transaction.
  4. Click Options > Edit Transaction.
  5. Change the coding as necessary.
  6. Click Update to save your changes.

2) If you entered it as an invoice or bill, follow these steps:

  1. Click Accounts > Sales for invoices, or Accounts > Purchases for bills.
  2. Search for the transaction.
  3. Click the name of the contact to open the transaction.
  4. Click the Invoice Options or Bill Options menu, then click Edit Transaction.
  5. Change the coding as necessary.
  6. Click Save.
